BURGLARY ALERT
Even if you are in your home right now, are all your windows and doors shut and locked? Securing windows and doors at all times makes it tougher for thieves.
Where are your keys? Do not leave keys on the nearest surface to the door or window where they can be stolen through the letterbox or window. When away, do not leave your keys outside the home in an obvious place, thieves know where to look.
Where are your garden tools and ladder? One in five burglaries happen because these items are left insecure, making it easier to attack the home. Lock tools and ladders away.
Is your home visible to others? A burglar is less likely to attempt to steal from your property if it is visual to other people. Trim hedges and switch on an outside light.
Open your curtains during the day and close them at night. If you go out leave a light on. A house that looks unoccupied is more attractive to an opportunist.
If you notice anyone acting suspiciously in your area please try to note as many details as possible, descriptions, direction of travel, plus any details of suspicious vehicles.
